We started the institution as India’s first BINDT (British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing) approved ATO (Approved Training Organization) & AQB (Authorised Qualifying Body) in 2009, specialising in the field of training and certification of NDT personnel in accordance with the BS EN ISO 9712 recognition and have successfully trained and certified nearly 2500 - 3000 candidates in various NDT disciplines and levels. Initially operating out of Chennai, India and later conducting courses in various countries such as Singapore, Nigeria, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and South Africa in due course of time. In addition to our international operations we also have a strong local presence pan India. We have a custom-built state of the art facility of 12,000 square feet exclusively for training purpose as our head quarters in Chennai
After operating under BINDT’s banner for more than 7 years, we finally decided to become an Independent Certifying Body (CB) and started the ground work for the same in 2016 and managed to achieve the coveted status in March 2018. This achievement was due to the result of extremely strenuous and vibrant QMS (Quality Management System) development by our highly trained, motivated and ambitious staff. The accreditation was awarded after meticulous system audits conducted by an American Accreditation Society called IAS (International Accreditation Society). The accreditation is already starting to be accepted widely by many major clients such as PDO (Petroleum Development of Oman) Oman, NPCC (National Petroleum Construction Company) UAE, we are also in the process initiating discussions with many other major clients such as QP (Qatar Petroleum), Dolphin Energy Qatar, ADNOC etc.
In addition to our training and certification business we are also pioneers in the field of manufacturing flawed specimens the monopoly of which was previously held only by two international companies. We started the manufacture of flawed specimens initially to cater to our in-house requirements but later ventured into commercial sales and received high praises for our accuracy, quality and affordability. As a result of continual research and adaptability to changing technology we have developed specimens to some of India’s premiere research centres such IGCAR (Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research) and also are in the pipeline for supplying specimens India’s space research organisation ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Due to our quality and prompt delivery system our competitors have also procured flawed specimens from us. Our international clientele in this field also in United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Qatar, Nigeria, Malaysia, Singapore, Oman and South Africa.
Meena is always thinking of ways to improve as an organisation and for that we set realistic goals that can and in Meena’s dictionary will be achieved clinically within the stipulated time planned. Our immediate goals are as below:
To capture the Middle Eastern market by setting up a base in UAE.
To achieve ISO 17025 Accreditation to expand Meena’s activities into the field of inspection as well.
To achieve an accreditation in Welding for both in-house production activities as well as to provide world class certification to welders employed by major EPCs.
To setup a specimen manufacturing facility in UAE and ensure world class training and certification to clients in the Middle East.
The above-mentioned goals are ones that we expect to achieve latest by the end of this year and not any later than that.
However, Meena’s long term dream project has been to start a Anti Corrosive Weld Overlay Cladding facility to cater to all Oil and Natural Gas clients as well as Nuclear Power plants (Alternative Energy). This has been a pet project of our CEO as he is the man behind the development of a company in UAE. This was a green field project he undertook and achieved the same in 1996 with the then Oil and Natural Gas Minister inaugurating the facility. This we would like it to be worldwide operations.
Our CEO Mr. Kasi Viswanathan is a veteran in the field of NDT and quality side of business with a wealth of knowledge gathered over 4 decades of career in the Oil and Natural Gas field. He is an ASNT (American Society of Non-Destructive Testing) & ACCP Level 3 in various methods since 1991 and has worked in the Middle East for more than 2 decades finally returning to India in 2008 to start our own brand. In fact, our whole reputation as an organisation is largely due to his honest and hard-working work ethics that has been inherited by our staff and is truly a role model for Meena’s own staff and many aspiring NDT experts. His last assignment in the Middle East was with NPCC, where he worked as the Project Quality Manager for all Saudi Aramco projects, such was his skill and competence that he to date holds several Aramco approvals (which is one the highest if not the highest number of Aramco approvals that any one individual has achieved). His vision when he started Meena International in 2009 was to provide world class NDT training and certification to all at affordable price and that has been our motto to this date.
Meena’s strength has always been its highly committed, trained, motivated and ambitious work force. Though small in number we more than make up for it in terms of skill and drive to greatness. It is only fair that we give credit to our biggest source of encouragement and motivation “Our students” who keep the banner of Meena flying high wherever they go. The strength of our team is that we at Meena strive for perfection and attention to detail in every one of our endeavours. Our technicians as well as our managers actively involve in every activity resulting in not only organisational growth but also individual growth.
The reason behind Meena’s success has always been the passion with which our team executes even small tasks with the equal importance given to any major decisions. Team Meena always strives for excellence and not success and this has and will always be our strength in many more years to come.
